When Maddy first began her CASA case with the Kingston Children, she had no idea that over two years later she would be celebrating their successful adoption. The siblings had witnessed and experienced physical violence within the home, and after their mother refused to keep the perpetrator away from them, parental rights were terminated.

It was a rough few years in foster care for the siblings, but Maddy advocated for regular sibling visits and took every opportunity to fight for individualized education needs and safe placement. When an adoption profile was created for both children at an adoption agency, four couples were found that expressed a sincere belief in keeping the children together.

The CASA joined other professionals involved in the case to discuss, interview, and review each couple to determine the best fit for the siblings. The children went to the Brookes family pending future adoption, and even though Maddy was no longer officially their CASA, she still called the children frequently to ensure they were happy, safe, and adjusting to their new home and family. The new family has been together for 2 years since the adoption was finalized.  The children continue to prosper in their forever home.
