Celebrating Our Community at the Superhero Run for Life Stories
As the Fundraising & Development Manager, I get to see what happens when our community comes together for a cause that matters. Every year, the Superhero Run for Life Stories shows me just how strong and joyful our community can be.
On Saturday, September 19, we’ll gather again at the Greeley Family FunPlex. At this point, calling it just a “run” doesn’t really capture what the event has become. Yes, there will be runners and walkers crossing the finish line. Yes, there will be superheroes in capes, costumes, and all kinds of creative attire. But there will also be families, friends, supporters, volunteers, survivors, caregivers, and people simply looking for a fun way to be part of something meaningful.
It has truly become a giant celebration of our community.
From my seat as the Development Manager, I see the incredible generosity that makes an event like this possible; I see businesses and sponsors investing in our mission; I see volunteers giving their time and energy: I see participants showing up year after year, bringing their families and friends with them; I see people who may have never considered themselves “run people” finding a way to participate and discovering that this event belongs to them too.
That’s one of my favorite things about the Superhero Run: there is something for everyone.
You can run. You can walk. You can cheer from the sidelines. You can dress up as your favorite superhero. You can bring your kids. You can build a team with your coworkers, friends, church, school, or family. You can volunteer. You can sponsor. You can simply come out to celebrate the strength of our community!
The superhero theme may bring the fun, but the people are what makes the day powerful. Every cape represents a story. Every person who crosses that finish line represents a community that believes in showing up, standing together, and celebrating life.
Over the last 14 years, the Superhero Run has become a favorite community tradition, and I think that’s because it manages to be both incredibly meaningful and incredibly fun. It gives us a reason to come together, to laugh, to celebrate, to encourage one another, and to make a difference.
On September 19, I hope you’ll join us. Come as a superhero. Come as a supporter. Come with your family. Come with your team. Come ready to run, walk, cheer, volunteer, or simply be part of the celebration.
However you show up, you are part of what makes this community so strong. That is the real superpower behind the Superhero Run for Life Stories.
